StyleNectar Recipes with Jayashrii

This gorgeous flavor bomb in the form of a Festive Holiday Orange and Olive Salad is a beautiful feast for the eyes and tastebuds alike. Perfect to serve as a lovely pre-holiday-meal appetizer/salad to awaken the palate. So very simple to prepare and packed full of sweet, tangy, buttery zing!

Recipe for delicious Festive Holiday Orange & Olive Salad (serves 4-6 small plates)

  • 4 clementines sliced into rounds
  • 4 blood oranges sliced into rounds
  • 1/3 cup halved pitted green olives
  • 3 Tbsp finely diced red onion
  • 2 ripe avocados, scored into small/medium cubes
  • Juice of 1/2 lime (for gently tossing w/ avocado to keep from oxidizing)
  • Extra virgin olive oil to drizzle on top
  • Sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

 

Arrange sliced citrus rounds on a beautiful plate. Gently toss avocado in lime juice being careful not to bruise. Scatter prepared olives, diced red onion and cubed avocado over top citrus. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Enjoy the burst of flavors!

Jayashrii Holistic Wellness

Good morning lovely friends:) Today I’m sharing an integral part of my daily morning routine, my Liquid Gold Sunshine Elixir. I absolutely adore it’s sunshiney goodness and look forward to heading downstairs to enjoy it each day upon waking.

Be sure to have it on an empty stomach about 30 minutes before anything else to enjoy the liver flushing, detoxifying, vitamin C flood of sunshine power! I’m almost 50 years old and this is definitely one of my secrets to feeling my best.

Liquid Gold Sunshine Morning Elixir Recipe:

  • Juice of 1/2 to 1 lemon (I use 2 and I drink thru a glass straw to protect my teeth)
  • 16 oz hot (not boiling) water
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric (work your way up to more if you like- I use a lot)
  • Generous tsp Honey to taste

Stir and enjoy:)

Jayashrii Holistic Wellness

 

 

Today I'm sharing the secret recipe for my delicious Rocket Fuel Green Smoothie which I enjoy daily. If you're looking for incredible energy, glowing skin, your ideal weight and to vibe high… then this one is for you!

 

 Rocket Fuel Green Smoothie

(Rotate the greens you use in place of the spinach – KEEPING the romaine, celery and parsley/cilantro. Also you may rotate the fruit you use, but always KEEP the lemon, & ginger & the banana which gives it body and cancels out any bitter taste of the greens).

Makes Four 16 oz servings. I drink a 32oz serving/day

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 heart romaine
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • HUGE handful spinach (or broccoli, kale, chard, asparagus, dandelion – or a combo)
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro or parsley
  • 1 apple chopped
  • 1 pear chopped
  • 1 banana chunked
  • 2” piece fresh ginger root
  • 1 lemon peeled, chopped
  • stevia or dates to sweeten to taste (optional)

Add the greens and water to (a high speed ideally Vitamix) blender. Blend til smooth. Add 1/2 the fruit. Blend. Add rest of fruit/remaining ingredients. Blend.

Fresh Berries with Cashew Cream

Triple Berry Parfait with Cashew Cream was a perfect start to this sunny, spring day.  Fresh, organic berries topped by a luscious, honey-sweetened mousse…

The only thing better than looking forward to having this for breakfast the next couple of days is knowing how healthy it is!  A lovely little meal packed with antioxidants, protein, fiber and iron.

Serve cashew cream with any mixture of fruit or simply substitute it anywhere you'd use a sweet topping like whipped cream or mascarpone.  It's to die for!

This is my submission to Sarah at Dead Easy Desserts for the August 2014 Raspberry Theme!

Cashew Cream (makes 2 cups)

Ingredients:

2 cups raw cashew nuts (soaked overnight to remove enzyme inhibitors & release live nutrients by initiating the sprouting process)
2 cups cold water (plus extra as needed)
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons raw coconut nectar or raw honey (3 if you like it sweet!)

Method:

  1. Place cashews, 2 cups cold water, raw honey and vanilla extract into a heavy-duty blender such as a Vitamix.  (If your blender isn't "heavy-duty" just soak the cashews in the water overnight to soften. After step 2 strain the final, blended mixture through a sieve if necessary- or just keep it rustic.)
  2. Blend on high speed for about 1 minute. Add a little more water and blend again until smooth. Taste the cream and add a bit more honey if necessary.  
  3. The cream thickens and settles as it refrigerates. If you're preparing for immediate use, only add enough water to bring it to immediate desired thickness. To prep in advance, leave the cream a little runnier by adding another few tablespoons of water, blending til incorporated. 
  4. Cashew cream may be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Triple Berry Parfait

Raspberries
Blackberries
Strawberries sliced
Mint sprigs

To assemble Triple Berry Parfait, simply arrange blackberries, raspberries and strawberries into a dish and drizzle a generous dollop of cream over top.  Garnish with a sprig of mint and enjoy!  

Tip:  A festive breakfast, brunch or dessert treat to serve on Forth of July with its red, white and blue color scheme!  Just substitute blueberries for the blackberries.
